Wrapping your hands is very important when boxing, especially if you are working with a heavy bag or hand held mitts. Hand wraps provide only a degree of protection but do not guarantee the user from injury. Follow the diagram and step-by-step instruction below when wrapping your hands. Be careful not to wrap your hands too tightly because this will cut off blood circulation to your hands and fingers. Be sure to focus on wrapping the knuckles and wrist.

Spread hands wide and place the “loop” over your thumb. Pull the wrapping across the base of your palm and around the back of your wrist; then pull the wrapping across your palm towards the knuckle of the small finger.

Then take the wrap from the palm sides of your small finger at the little knuckle and wrap diagonally across your hand to the wrist and wrap under your wrist to the “ulna” side of your hand up and diagonally across the back of your hand to the fore-finger knuckle next to your thumb.

Then cross the back of your hand 3-4 times then around the knuckles again and back diagonally to the wrist and continue around the wrist to the end of the wrap and secure.
